Guidelines for China International Cartoon & Animation Festival (CICAF) Participation at the Anime Costume Contest at MegaCon 2014

Welcome to prospective entrants for Megacon's Anime Costume Contest, presented by Anime Sushi! This year, an exciting opportunity to share United States cosplay culture on a global level will be presented as a special prize in the contest. The Chinese cosplay community would like to extend an invitation to American cosplayers to participate in a costume show featuring cosplayers from around the world.
One duo from this contest will win a trip to China and the honor of representing the United States at the "CHINA COSPLAY SUPER SHOW" at the China International Cartoon & Animation Festival (CICAF) in HangZhou over the weekend of May 2nd - 4th, 2014.
Requirements for CICAF eligible entries are as follows:
Duo performances, groups of two cosplayers, are required.
Performances must be a skit, no walk-ons will be eligible for the CICAF prize.
Length of skits must fall between a one minute minimum time and a two minute maximum time.
All participants must be at least eighteen years of age.
Participants must have valid passports at the time of the Megacon Anime Costume Contest.
Participants must have made the majority (70%) of their costumes; some help and use of premade items is fine, however participants need to be able to provide credit for all pieces participants did not completely make themselves.
Participants must provide reference images of their costumes.
All audio must be prerecorded on a CD and provided for the Megacon Anime Costume contest.
Requirements for submitting entries for CICAF prize eligibility are as follows:
Complete a submission form with detailed information.
Submit a summary of the entrants' skit performance.
Provide a link to a cosplay portfolio, additional links to videos of past skit performances are also welcome.
Complete submissions by March 1st - 10pm EST.
Megacon Anime Costume contest participants who will be eligible for the CICAF prize will be announced on March 6th. A maximum of fifteen (15) duos will be selected. All entrants whether CICAF eligible or not will be eligible for prizes presented by Anime Sushi at the MegaCon 2014 Anime Costume Contest. CICAF prize eligible participants are encouraged to keep the following in mind: Background music can greatly add to audio presentations, and inclusion of such may want to be considered. Progress pictures of costume construction help judges evaluate craftsmanship. United States CICAF representatives will perform for an international audience, thus performances are encouraged to be relatable to a global audience.
One duo from this contest will win a trip to China and the honor of representing the United States at the "CHINA COSPLAY SUPER SHOW" at the China International Cartoon & Animation Festival (CICAF) in HangZhou over the weekend of May 2nd - 4th, 2014. Travel dates will be from April 28th - May 5th. Air fare, meals and lodging for the trip will be provided. United States representatives for CICAF will be accompanied by Yaya Han, who will serve as their manager for the trip. Each member of the winning duo will be required to take two costumes with them on the trip, one for the Cosplay Show and one for the prize ceremony. CICAF participants may take one extra costume at their own discretion. CICAF organizers will not cover costs of extra baggage. CICAF participants must have a prepared skit timed to a minimum of three minutes. United States representatives are encouraged to elaborate on their skit from the Anime Sushi Costume Contest.
